What we don't collect

You don't sign up, log in or give us your name or email to use Shelf Check. We don't use advertising, tracking pixels or cookies, and we don't sell or share data about visitors.

Visit counts (GoatCounter)

We count visits with GoatCounter, so we know which pages and aisles people use. It uses no cookies and doesn't build a profile of you. It records the page, the referring site, your browser type, screen size and rough country. It doesn't store your IP address; it only uses a scrambled version for a few hours so one visit isn't counted twice. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used so we can improve it.

Your choices on this device

When you sort or filter products, or leave out allergens and ingredients, Shelf Check remembers those choices in your browser's local storage so they're still there next time. They stay on your device and are never sent to us. You can clear them at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Services the site loads

To show the site, your browser connects to a few other services. Like any website, they receive your IP address and browser details when it does:

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what personal data we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it. Because we don't collect personal data, there's normally nothing to send, but email hello@shelfcheck.food and we'll reply within a month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If what the site does changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
